Apparat: Useless Information

Sometimes, the most interesting thing about a musical collaboration is what happens to the individuals after it closes. Apparat was one half of last year’s Orchestra of Bubbles. This track comes from his second album, Walls, released a few months ago.

Walls oscillates between string laden ‘technorchestral’ tracks and songs that blend the styles of Junior Boys, The Postal Service and M83 in a 2-1-1 split. Throughout, however, you can hear the echoes of Ellen Allien.

Useless Information boasts my much loved beat combination: electronic bass drum and toms, the latter used to add tonal qualities to the gorgeous strings that carry the melody and the synthetic noise noodlings that occupy the furthest limits of the track.
